Classes are held at Angel Acres boarding facility located at 11123 Moreno Avenue, Lakeside,CA 92040. For a class schedule, email us at info@companionhorse.org
 
Angel Acres is located off Highway 67. Directions:
Highway 67 to Willow Road. (You can only go east on Willow. Travelling north on 67, it's a right turn at the Circle K). Take the first left which is Moreno. You will be driving past the Sunbow cattle ranch, as soon as you see a tall row of trees, look for the sign that says Angel Acres. Turn right down the long dirt road. Park by the barn.
 
Each session includes classroom training and hands-on work. Upon successful completion of all five classes, a written exam, and a final practical exam, a certificate will be issued attesting to the graduate's skill in horse handling and care.
 

Class #1: History of horse-human relations, horse anatomy, social behaviors of horses.

Hands-on: Meet the horses (learn to approach, touch, feed treats, be safe next to horses.) 

 

Class #2: Communication skills. Learn the critical importance of recognizing the body language of horses.

Hands-on: Learn to halter and lead. Observe horses interacting with one another.

 

Class #3: Feeding requirements, medical and dental care,

costs of owning a horse. Why boarding is best.

Hands-on 3: Learn to groom a horse.

 

Class #4: Practice already acquired skills, then exercise a horse in a round pen.

 

Class #5: Review, practice, final exam.
